4 Signs You’re Ready for Rhinoplasty

If you’re unhappy with your nose, you may be trying to decide whether or not to move forward with a rhinoplasty (or a “nose job”). At our Tucson plastic surgery practice, we spend a lot of time educating our patients about their procedures to be completely sure surgery is the right choice and that they will be happy with the outcome.

In this post, we’ll highlight a few signs rhinoplasty may help you feel more like your best self.

You only take photos from certain angles.

Do you strategically position yourself in photos to disguise bumps, humps, or asymmetry? This may be a sign that your hyper-awareness of your nose is playing a significant role in your life. When you’re happy with your nose, you feel confident enough to take photos from multiple angles without fixating on what your nose will look like. For the right candidates, rhinoplasty can provide this confidence.

At our practice, we use computer imaging to help people envision what their nose will look like after surgery. This allows you to see the predicted size and shape of the feature from multiple angles before you commit to your procedure, so you can be sure it’s the right decision for you.

You strategically contour your nose with makeup.

If using makeup to create the illusion of a more proportional nose is a normal part of your daily routine, rhinoplasty may be able to help. Makeup can be great for providing temporary changes, but if you’ve become all too well-versed in the art of contouring, you may benefit from a long-lasting surgical improvement. This will help you love the way your nose looks without a hint of makeup.

If you’re hoping to avoid surgery, an injectable solution may be able to provide improvements for a few months to 2 years at a time. Learn more in our previous blog post.

Your nose is the first thing you notice when you look in the mirror.

This may indicate 2 things:

  • Your facial features aren’t in harmony with each other, and it’s interfering with people noticing and appreciating your best features. Properly proportioned facial features direct most of the attention to the eyes and lips.
  • Your unhappiness with your nose is clear and present in your mind. It’s holding you back from appreciating your own best features because you’re fixating on what you’re self-conscious about.

You feel as though your nose is holding you back.

The goal of plastic surgery is to help you live confidently. The feeling that your features are coming in between you and your ability to live your most confident life, especially when that feeling persists for years, is a sign that surgery may be strongly worth considering.

As you move forward with your decision, it’s essential to discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon during a private consultation. Your surgeon will provide experienced guidance and discuss the possibilities of what surgery can achieve for you.
