Before

The first step to take in your CoolSculpting journey is to schedule a consultation. You can do this by calling the practice office or requesting an appointment online. During this private meeting, you’ll be able to open up with your doctor and learn more details about treatment. It is the perfect opportunity to discuss your goals and ask any lingering questions you may have about the procedure.

After carefully analyzing your body, your doctor will help you determine if your trouble spots could benefit from CoolSculpting. They will then help you schedule a customized treatment plan and suggest when your session can take place.

During

On the day of your appointment, show up a few minutes early to ask questions and finish any final paperwork. Once you’re all set, you will be lead into the treatment room where you can relax on a comfortable reclining seat. Your provider will place a handheld applicator that uses suction to hold fatty tissue in place on your treatment area. The area is then exposed to carefully controlled cool temperatures. Your skin may tingle and feel numb during this process.

A CoolSculpting session typically lasts around 35 to 60 minutes. The time may vary depending on the number of areas you’re having treated.

After

CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical procedure and requires no dedicated downtime. You can return to work or home immediately afterward and drive yourself home from treatment. You may experience some tenderness or swelling around the target area after treatment, but this is common. Any discomfort can be treated with over-the-counter pain medication and a bit of rest.

You won’t see your CoolSculpting results right away, but remember to stay patient. Your body will gradually shed the dead fat cells that were frozen during treatment. Experiences vary, but most patients see noticeable changes after 2 to 3 months. If you’re seeking a more dramatic look, you can come in later for an additional touch-up session.
