Adding facial balance when the nose appears large

What happens at a consultation for facial implants?
Dr. Olson uses digital imaging analysis to understand your desired results and help you visualize the possible improvements from surgery. This information helps him choose the style, position, and size of the implant.
How is facial implant surgery performed?
Dr. Olson performs facial implant surgery as an office procedure using local anesthetic but prefers outpatient in an ambulatory center, so patients are more comfortable. If it is being combined with another procedure, he may perform the surgery in a surgery center using general anesthesia. Cheek and mandibular implants are typically placed through incisions hidden inside the mouth or through the incisions used for a facelift. Chin implants may be placed through an incision under the chin or inside the lower lip. In most cases, the resulting scars are unnoticeable.

What can I expect during recovery after facial implant surgery?
Patients generally take about a week off work after cheek or chin implant surgery when the procedure is performed on its own. If facial implants are placed as part of another procedure, recovery will vary with the surgical plan. Dr. Olson will give you post-op guidelines to follow to help you have a smooth recovery and satisfying results.
Are there alternatives to facial implants?
Instead of facial implants, dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA and Restylane® Lyft can be injected into the cheeks and chin to add volume and definition. These treatments provide beautiful results that last about 1 to 2 years with little to no downtime.
