One of the preferred methods for augmenting the cheekbones and smoothing skin folds and scars is through a fat transfer in Tucson. The fat transfer procedure does just what it says – taking fat from one area of the body, purifying it, and placing it in the face for better definition and contour. We are proud to offer the harvest-jet® – a body contouring treatment that is similar to the treatment recently featured on Dr. Oz. Harvest-jet is an even gentler version of the popular body-jet® lipo device, and is ideal for harvesting high-quality fat for fat transfer procedures.
Choosing Fat Transfer
Fat transfers can reshape irregular facial contours, create fuller lips, improve facial sagging and enhance the appearance of sunken cheekbones. Fat transfer can be used as a single procedure or combined with other operations such as a facelift. Our doctors are keenly familiar with appropriate fat preparation and placement techniques to optimize results for a variety of treatment areas, including:
- Nasolabial folds (the lines from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth)
- Hollowness or a sunken appearance under the eyes
- Thin lips, uneven lips and lip lines
- Depressed scars
Our patients may also elect to have other cosmetic procedures and treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or injectable fillers like Restylane® and JUVÉDERM®. Dr. Jerold Olson often performs fat transfer in Tucson as part of a facelift procedure to create remarkable results.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the procedure performed?
First, unwanted fat is removed from an area of the body through the use of liposuction. Then, the fat cells are prepared for re-implantation and injected into the treatment area. Patients receive local anesthesia or local anesthesia and sedation as necessary to maximize comfort during the procedure.
How do I know how long the results will last?
Longevity of the procedure relates, in part, to the technique that is used to prepare the fat cells before they are re-implanted. The body may reabsorb some of the implanted fat over time, making touch-up treatments sometimes necessary to maintain an ideal appearance.
What can I expect during my fat transfer recovery?
Our patients are provided with instructions to follow during recovery so that they can heal quickly and achieve satisfying results. You will be prescribed pain medication to relieve any discomfort during the first few days. The results are immediate and you can enjoy most normal activities right away.
