Ellacor® Micro-Coring

Ellacor logoIf you have had great success with treatments such as microneedling, you may be ready for ellacor, a next-level skin treatment that achieves impactful and long-lasting results. While microneedling simply punctures the skin, ellacor removes micro-cores of skin to create a healing environment and jump-start collagen production. We offer ellacor treatments at Foothills Dermatology and Facial Plastic Surgery in Tucson for patients who want to transform their skin with minimal downtime.

How Does Ellacor Work?

Ellacor uses tiny hollow needles to remove microscopic skin sections from the treatment area, leaving the surrounding skin intact. Removal of the skin stimulates your body’s natural healing response, growing new skin cells and improving issues such as wrinkles and skin laxity. Although the device penetrates the entire thickness of the skin, it leaves no scarring.

What Is Ellacor Treatment For?

Ellacor can improve the following skin concerns, although individual results will vary.

  • Moderate to severe skin laxity
  • Wrinkles in the mid and lower face

If you want smoother, firmer, and tighter skin, this FDA-cleared treatment is an excellent option for reducing the appearance of jowling, marionette lines, and deeper nasolabial folds.

What To Expect During Your Ellacor Treatment

You will be given an anesthetic to minimize discomfort during your treatment. The treatment should take around 30 minutes, and the full results will take a few months to materialize. After your ellacor treatment, you will likely need 3 to 5 days or more before you feel comfortable heading to work or going out in public.

Once your treatment is complete, your provider will advise you to apply a protective serum to the treated areas for the first few days. You should also avoid makeup during the first week, as it may irritate your skin and impact your results.

How Painful Is Ellacor?

Since you will be given an anesthetic before your ellacor treatment, you should not have any discomfort during the procedure. The participants in a clinical trial reported their pain level as less than 2 on a 0 to 10 scale. You may experience some pinpoint bleeding, redness, and swelling after the treatment. The pinpoint bleeding will stop within a few hours, and redness and swelling will subside gradually.

Am I a Good Candidate for Ellacor?

A good candidate for ellacor is anyone who wants to improve moderate to severe skin laxity and wrinkles on their mid and lower face. This treatment is best for individuals with Fitzpatrick skin types I through IV. If you have darker skin (V and VI), check with your provider to see if you are a good candidate for this treatment. Darker skin types may benefit from microneedling, HydraFacial® or microdermabrasion for less risk of hyperpigmentation aftereffects.
